Dear Betty, We stayed five days with Lusi und Momo and the whole family, from grandma to the great grandson. We enjoyed the time with the family who treated us as special guests. Lusi showed us the village and the school, we went shopping together on the market and explored all the different fruits and vegetables we had never seen before. We also learned how to open a coconut the Fijian way, Johannes even climbed a tree to get one! All the women in the house cooked us great meals and we tried some of the vegetables for the first time: Maniok, Cassava and Breadfruit.

A lot of women of the village make their own jewelry and I could see and learn how they create these wonderful pieces. Everywhere you can see there were women with different colourful dresses, every single one individually made. I watched Lusi make a Fijian dress in only a couple of hours.

Johannes went out with the kids in the warm rain and they swam in the ocean and had a lot of fun together. We even watched the Soccer World Championship Games in their house together, which was held in Germany 2006.There are so many things to tell and share, watching Lusi`s mum making a broom out of palm leaves, playing with the kids, the many wonderful conversations we had about Fijian culture and history, sitting together for dinner, just being part of the big family ….find out about all these things yourself!
Shortly: We had a wonderful time in Viseisei with Lusi and Momo and it was the most impressing and touching experience for us.
